Here at the ‘Spill we’ve had a private preview of the music, which is due for release on 18th August and I am happy to report that it is stonking stuff. The EP is available for pre-order via the band’s Bandcamp page and also from the band’s website. There are digital (via Bandcamp), vinyl and CD versions available, plus various bits of merch. El Ten Eleven are to be found on Facebook, Twitter, Spotify and iTunes. They can also be found on YouTube.

Bassist and composer Kristian Dunn and drummer Tim Fogarty formed El Ten Eleven in 2002 while living in Los Angeles. They use pedals and loops to create layers of sound and play both electric and acoustic instruments.

There are four tracks on the release and they are all rather wonderfully ecstatic in tone and feel, reminiscent of The Cocteau Twins in some ways, but with lovely trip hop and chillout vibes too.

The tracklist is;

1. Unusable Love (feat. Emile Mosseri)
2. I’m Right Here (feat. Emile Mosseri)
3. She’s A Live One (feat. Emile Mosseri)
4. Delicate Friend (feat. Emile Mosseri)

I was really pleased to get the chance to review this because I’ve heard the band ( a duo really) before and really enjoyed their music. They get described as “post rock”, but I’m not sure that the label really does them justice. This EP is full of sumptuous and sensual music. with a sensitive use of effects pedals which allow the real instruments that they play stay well to the fore. This gives the music a genuine human dimension, something that isn’t always apparent in some post rock. I love the way the the music is built around the human voice of Emile Mosseri on this EP, with complexity and depth created by careful layering of sound that creates a shimmering and magical soundworld. Yup, you could describe me as a fan. I’ve been playing this over and over, it really is wonderful and immersive music. I really cannot pick out a favourite track, they are all good.

I get to hear a lot of music via my ‘Spillin’ The Beans reviews. I count myself lucky that this EP has entered into my life. Superb and captivating music.
