More sounds to brighten your Sunday; I hope you find something to enjoy. Many thanks to all contributors. Comments welcome!
Garbanotas Bosistas – Last Summers Day: Lithuanian psych-rock quartet … from the band’s forthcoming second album (due December). “The music of Garbanotas Bosistas makes people happy everywhere it goes – from the courtyards of Lithuania to the forests of Latvia, from the business districts of Estonia to the homeland of The Beatles, passing the mountains of the Balkans and conquering the lands of the Vikings. Every show witnesses the miracle of dreamy neo-kraut- psychedelic flowers growing out of the amplifiers, and the bassist is still curly. Yes, Garbanotas Bosistas means just that: a curly bass player.”
Bo Haan – Playboy (We’re All In Love): “Haan appears to have found his niche audience and has had continued success with his formula of infectious grooves, catchy hooks, and polyamorous musings. His latest album, Bedroom Amateur, (was) released on October 10th. It continues Bo’s trending stylistic pull toward electro-funk and dance, with an immediate pop appeal. The album’s first single, “Playboy (We’re All In Love)”, is an infectious stunner with suave brass spurts, funky rhythms, and a Michael Jackson-esque vocal pull. The track will be followed up with a music video this fall.”
Rookes – The Heel of my Hand: “Premiered by Variance Magazine, “The Heel Of My Hand” was released via all-female record label Seahorse Music (Bryde, Little Rêd). It’s a song of brooding heartbreak delivered with a distinctive pop edge, inspired by Flock Of Dimes, St. Vincent and Annie Lennox. As well as being a well-practiced live performer and songwriter, Rookes (aka Jenny Bulcraig) also happens to be a featured interviewee on BBC’s Queer Britain.”
Charlotte Black – All Over You: “Charlotte Black is a 22 year old pop songstress born and raised in Edinburgh, now based in London with her sights set on Los Angeles … New track All Over You is her second single and follows the debut ‘SYCL’(aka Someone You Couldn’t Love) … Both songs form part of a bitter sweet trilogy of single releases, which document the ups and downs of finding love in 2017 and form the perfect introduction to Charlotte’s introspective musings on modern love.”
Orchid – Jasmines: “Writer and producer from London, releasing a song every month until the end of the year, and an EP at the start of the next. The first of those songs, Jasmines was released on October 6.”
Jake Alder and Charlotte Turnbull – Think Back: “Hotly tipped UK producer Jake Alder has teamed up with one of the scene’s most exciting young Alt RnB singers Charlotte Turnbull for this radio friendly jam. Although mainly an electronic pop producer this is Jake’s first RnB inspired track and sees the pair work together once again after their previous collab Long Lost, which was championed by ITV’s This Morning, Complex UK, SubTV and much more.”
Königsberg – feat. Ankit Sharda, Amir Mofrat – Scout: “Tech and electronic from Copenhagen with inspirations from both pop, tech house, trance, world and trips down memory lane to 80s/90s electronic vibes.” Nice violin.
Keep Dancing – Life Goes On: “Young French trio … Keep Dancing Inc are vibrant, boyish, and irrepressibly charming, they released their debut EP Initial Public Offering on October 6. They’re somewhere between the New Romantics and The Drums, with a cult following back in Paris that is already drawing in other artists like Parcels and Blossoms, who have come out as fans for the boys’ ‘cold zouk’ sounds… NME have listed the track as one of their New Bangers of 2017.”
REIGHNBEAU – Gold Face: “Gold Face is the contagious, atmospheric new single from REIGHNBEAU (Bryce Hample), featuring Shey Mertz (Bk Beats) and vocalist Colleen Johnson. Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, REIGHNBEAU is the work of visual and sound artist Bryce Hample. Frequent collaborators include Colleen Johnson (Twig Palace) and Madeline Johnston (Sister Grotto) … Hample has also released six albums of ambient music under the name hedia. Over the past year, he has also been creating his own sculptural instruments for live performance.”
Matt Adey – Love Is Not A Game: “The first single from UK singer-songwriter, Matt Adey’s forthcoming album, Love and Deeper Cuts… If the thought of another singer-songwriter spouting forth about love, break-ups, and heartache puts you to sleep, prepare to be proven wrong. Produced by Chris Potter, best known for his work with The Verve and Richard Ashcroft, and including Ashcroft’s band on the track, it’s no surprise that “Love Is Not a Game” is this phenomenal.”
