Here’s the latest Sounds on Sunday playlist to bring more bounce to your weekend. I hope those of you who have an Easter holiday are enjoying the break, and for those of you who don’t, I hope you enjoy the music. Thanks very much to all contributors; don’t forget to add your comments below.

Anni – Tomorrow: “Here’s a new song from the Helsinki based songstress (also featured in SoS20) Anni. It’s called “Tomorrow”, and it’s a little flash of light in the world growing darker at places just now. This song comes a month after the previous single, “Break Free”, and we will be releasing a new song again next month. Thanks for listening.”

Gallery 47 – Lefty: “Singer-songwriter Gallery 47 aka Jack Peachey (also featured in SoS5, SoS11) returns with another … collection of captivating alt-folk tracks on his latest EP Bad Production, out on 5th May 2017 via Bad Production Records … Forthcoming singles LeftyPolitical Differences and EP track ‘Overflow’ were written as a result of an alcohol-infused dispute between Peachey and some family members who commented negatively on today’s youth and their approach to finding work. This is an issue Jack has struggled with himself, making this release even more relatable and poignant.”

The Nickajack Men – Marilyn: “Falkirk-based four piece The Nickajack Men are preparing to release their debut EP Wasting Away, due for release on 26th May 2017 via NJM Records. The theme of the EP explores the difficulties and frustrations experienced by aspiring young musicians as they try to break free from the environment they have grown up in, preparing to take their first steps into a larger, daunting world.”

Maria Kelly – Far Below: “Irish singer-songwriter Maria Kelly returns with her most poignant and honest release to date. Her debut EP The Things I Should, out on 19th May 2017 via Veta Records, is a stunning collection of emotionally gripping tracks performed with purity and grace. The EP is based around Maria’s struggle with self-expression and how, by always trying to please others, you can lose a part of yourself in the process.”

Fröst – Keratin:Fröst is a collaboration between Franco-Swedish sound artist Johanna Bramli (vocalist for Stereolab offshoot Imitation Electric Piano) and Fujiya & Miyagi’s synth player and producer Steve Lewis …” Their debut single “Crackling on the Wire” received much praise and air play; this is the follow-up.

Jonas and Warren – New Tenants: “Josh Warren (me) and my friend (Pete Jonas) were both moving away from California … so we decided to create an album together … We made it in the basement of our University’s music building, in a little studio that no one even knew existed. And since no one knew it existed, we were able to make it practically for free. We spent a few months locked up in that room, writing music, recording, and calling up friends to play on the album. And we had the time of our lives. We’re calling the album (aptly) “This Town Ain’t Big Enough for the Both of Us” and it’s out now… This is the first song from the album.”

Vie En Ville – Telenovela Queen: “Vie En Ville is the project of Aaron Atkins, … from San Francisco, California. Drawing influence from the likes of Oasis, Roxy Music, New Order, and The Smiths, Aaron’s music is a delicate mixture of ambiance and melody. As a passionate lover of classical music and a student of Opera, Atkins brings a very meticulous approach to the production of his music. He takes much of his inspiration from the words spoken through the bustle of life in the city, which provides him with the stories he uses in his songs once called “powerfully minimalist”.”

Erik Kramer – One of Many: “Traversing across jazz, psych-soul, and pop, this colorful new track … was just released … After a decade of hiding in the shadows as a sideman and session musician, Erik Kramer is stepping out with a powerful first collection of songs entitled ‘Missed the Boat‘. The 27-year old Brooklyn resident’s bass playing has been featured on records by Endangered Speeches, Sun Cut Flat, Sonnymoon, The Blind Woods, and more … The album is due out in late May of 2017. Kramer is also currently the bass player for The Undercover Dream Lovers.”

Elohim – Skinny Legs: “Los Angeles artist/producer Elohim has released a brand new single “Skinny Legs.” The track debuted exclusively with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 (Apple Music) and is out now via B3SCI Records, available HERE classically-trained pianist, Elohim first debuted with “She Talks Too Much” and “Xanax,” which saw a release as a 12″ via B3SCI Records. Elohim followed with a second 12″ via B3SCI featuring the exuberant “Bridge and the Wall” and elegantly emotive “Pigments,” which was released alongside a NERDISTapproved interactive video.”

Lethbridge Owen – Two Steps Forward: From Kelly Lethbridge and Jimmy Owen’s first double A-side, “Leaving Home” and “Two Steps Forward”, from the album “Mind Over Matter”. The album will be released two singles at a time over the coming months. Using vintage gear such as the 1970s echo-plex and 1960s Marshall plexi sounds, they produce an eclectic mix of folk, country, rock and pop with some prog and blues elements.

Memoryy – Damn Fine Predicament: “This song is set as the album closer to the (newly released) SKELETONS LP … and with one listen to that sweeping outro, you’ll see why. The pop project of Shaun Hettinger, Memoryy is fresh off a great 2016, writing the new Netflix ‘Chelsea Handler’ theme song (which is returning for season two in a few weeks) and making a big name as a remixer — his official turns for Body Language, Bridgit Mendler, and Paperwhite, as well as two original tracks, all contributed to 12 chart-scaling hits on Hype Machine in 2016.”

Thomas Dybdahl – Just a Little Bit: This is “taken from his 7th solo album, “The Great Plains”. Thomas, who is arguably one of the biggest Scandinavian acts around, added the finishing touches at the Propeller Studio in Oslo towards the end of 2016 and (it) was released to the world on 24th February 2017, four years after “What’s Left Is Forever” debuted on top of the Norwegian sales charts and was nominated for a Grammy in the US. “The songs on this album are mostly about being in a place in life where you suddenly have time to look in the mirror and into yourself, only to discover that you almost do not recognize the man looking back at you.”

Pipsy – Why Can’t I Get What I Want? – “Originally from Dunedin (NZ), PIPSY is the latest project by Melbourne based artist and producer Paul Pouwels.  Named after the local nickname for the Dunedin New Zealand native, PIPSY follows up Paul’s work with critically acclaimed jangle-pop bands Males and blues-luchadors Julian Temple Band. Pouwels steps out from behind the drum kit as a frontman for the new band – offering up visceral, upbeat punk songs, with a soft and gooey pop-caramel core, written during his years as a sideman for other bands in the Dunedin music scene.”
