When gigs turn out to be better, much better, than what we hoped it makes it all the more special to play together again. From meeting up with Swanny, to collecting Wotto in the car and driving down to Penrith, it was just like old times, a bag of laughs.
As we drove around the one way system in Penrith we were trying to decide where we had played in the 80s, times had moved on and so had the venues.
The first band on stage at The Warehouse, was called “The Amateurs Rollers Club” a true Cumbrian band as they were based all over the place: Penrith, Kendal, Barrow. They did a good set, of cover songs, and it would be nice to see some of their own material in the future.
The next band on was “The Girls” a local band from Penrith with Gary (singer) being in the 80s punk band “Aftermath”. A good set also from them, with each of the members adding something to their stage presence. I recorded their set and enjoyed the variety of songs, but I do not have the names of the songs.
Then it was the “old gits”….Oooops “The Red Aligatorz”. It was good to see Ellie again, and as it is home town, he was in “good fettle” and had a few pints to get into the swing of things. We enjoyed the gig very much, we had no rehearsal before the gig, but I do not think it showed too much. The sound was good, thanks to Chris on the P.A., but I was not coming through on the first 2 songs, and I seem to remember that happening in the 80s also….it´s a conspiracy!!
I recorded the sound using my Zoom H2n, and it came out better than what I hoped. The listing is not in order that we played on the night…as the set list is never followed…so neither is the recordings!! But you can tell the 2 songs that do not have a rhythm guitar…that is the quiz question folks…spot those tracks!
The photos from the gig are provided by Simon Smith, who came along to the gig; and Erin Annison, who was a taking photos of all the bands there, and I believe is making a career from her photography….good on ya Erin.

I videoed the gig but I forgot to rewind the cassette so I only got 2 songs recorded before the tape ran out !! The other 2 videos were from Dee, many thanks to her for letting us use them.
