Now I will be the first to admit that I’m not the biggest fan of acoustic music; so when Mark from the awesome Little Rocket Records sent me a copy of the new Mixtape Saints EP I did not give much hope to liking it.
I’m now on my fourth listen of Bright Lights Burned Out and it really is a rad little EP.
Mixtape Saints singer/songwriter Sam Moloney demonstrates a fantastic passion in his lyrics; telling stories of life’s ups and downs.
Bright Lights Burn Out has enough drive, determination and vocal grit to make it stand out amongst its punk rock peers.
Imagine sitting round a campfire slowly toasting marshmallows with your friends and loved ones; you look up to see a shooting star darting through the midnight sky; an old, well travelled man sits down, packs his pipe with smoking tobacco and slowly lights it. As bellows of smoke lazily drift upwards into the night sky he begins to tell you the story of his life. As you sit there motionless and captivated in each and every word spoken by him an inner warmth drifts over you, life is awesome.
Now take that feeling bring it in close and put the new Mixtapes Saints EP on your stereo, turn it up loud and let the good times in. Now repeat after me…”life is awesome; Mixtape Saints are awesome.”
