"Mars was formed in December, 1975 and played their first show in January, 1977 at CBGB's under the name 'China' which became Mars shortly after. During 1977 and 1978 they played around 25 shows without leaving Manhattan mostly alternating between CBGB's and Max's Kansas City. The last performance was at Max's in December 1978"
