Transition can be scary. Transgender people face fear of rejection, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty. They fear for their safety. In this episode, we answer a listener question from Sabene who asks “How do you combat and overcome that fear? I am really struggling with that right now. I mean, it’s almost pathological. And so I’d love to get your points of view and your experiences. I have to get over this hurdle… and I don’t know if I ever will.”
Some songs that deal honestly with mental illness (not that transgender people are mentally ill) and fear, and might prove inspirational, include Better Son/Daughter by Rilo Kiley, Bravado by Lorde (again with the Lorde), and Silk by Wolf Alice.
