For the past 3 weeks Swanny and I have been playing a few songs in his kitchen; I can not call it a rehearsal as the songs have slotted into place like we had only stopped playing a few months ago. As we swap stories of what we got up to in the 80s in Carlisle, Amsterdam and London, it seems that (for me at least) memories are hidden and obliterated, but tunes and songs have retained their character in my mind.

I can remember a chord sequence as soon as a lead riff begins, but I can not remember a certain gig or an event from those times. So the playing is going fine…as a duo. I know Wotto (drums) has been in contact with Swanny and all is fine there, only 1 kitchen rehearsal needed for Wotto! I have not seen him for a long time and I am curious how it will be when I see him next week for the full band get-together. I heard Ellie (bass) is rehearsing somewhere down south via our old recordings from this blog, but I know Ellie does not need any rehearsal he is a walking one man band.

Other things have been happening too; tomorrow Swanny and I are heading into Radio Cumbria to promote the gig on the 10th March at the Old Fire Station; if you look on the blog there is a recording of our last radio programme on Radio Cumbria from the 80s. Wotto, Swanny and myself let rip, talking nonsense to a frustrated presenter; but we were living for the times, we were young boys having our first crack of local stardom…so why not eh? I am not sure tomorrow’s interview will be so full of beans!

Swanny also tells me he has been in contact with the local newspapers to promote the gig, and tonight I got a mail from a guy from one of the papers asking for dates to the blog’s newspaper cuttings. If I can not remember the antics we got up to in Amsterdam I can certainly NOT remember the dates of events in Carlisle. My memories are not that vivid and I was not a serious researcher back then. I kept bits and pieces of what we got up to, but not in any systematic format; although this blog (or something like it) was in my mind back then, I did not think it would ever be a factual account.

There is also a possibility we will be back on our local TV Station “Border TV” to do an interview and gig promotion; I have no dates for this also (as they have not been announced yet), but I will hopefully let the world know when they arrive!

A friend of Swanny’s is coming from London (a city south of Watford) to take professional photographs on the night (not my snaps) and we are hopefully getting someone to video it….technology eh?

One other thing I have been doing for the reunion is looking for a new guitar. This deserves a story in itself as it has been a steep learning curve. The guitar I have at the moment has a big crack in its body, I am hoping to have 2 guitars on stage in case strings break…as they occasionally do! In the past we used to play on regardless with broken strings flaying about, but I guess we have grown up since then !!
