Welsh Singer/Songwriter ‘Adam Carpenter’ plays a combination of dreamy folk melodies and more upbeat rock ‘n’ roll power jams.
‘Tidal Wave’ feels like ‘Frank Turner’ is given you a cuddle whilst ‘Bob Dylan’ makes you a cup of tea and tells you epic stories of his life.
I feel the slower more folky tracks suits Adam’s voice and guitar style much better.
I really feel this album would have been a lot better if the drums had been recorded by someone with a little more range of playing skills; as the drums at times are fairly out of time with the other musical arrangements.
When Adam returns back to his more acoustic tracks I really feel that the songs feel more alive and standalone really well without a supporting rhythm section.
Adam wears his heart stapled and bleeding on his sleeve; singing songs about relationships, mental health and lives little insecurities.
All that said, it’s definitely worth keeping Adam Carpenter on your radar, if folk punk is your thing.
