Good morning campers! Here is another weird and wonderful collection of Earworms. If you have an Earworm you’d like to share, please send an .mp3 or a link to: [email protected], along with a few lines about why you’ve chosen it. Enjoy listening, and many thanks to all contributors. STOP PRESS: BY POPULAR REQUEST WE WILL HAVE A THEME NEXT WEEK, WHICH WILL BE: ENNUI. But for those who prefer to be themeless, all worms are welcome.

Teardrop Explodes – Second Head – Vanwolf: I saw a question on twitter from BBC 6 music a week or so ago asking for great runs on albums of 3 tracks (or more). I suggested a few including this which sits between Treason and Reward on Kilimanjaro and would be my preference of the three.

Rae Sremmurd (feat. Gucci Mane) – Black Beatles – Magicman: Since I’m working in Georgia I’ll choose a handful of earworms out of Atlanta, the current centre of gravity of the US hip-hop scene. The two brothers hail from Mississippi but signed with Atlanta producer Mike Will Made-It and have 2 albums to date. This endearing youthful track was their breakthrough last year featuring trap rapper Gucci Mane & made Number One on the Billboard charts. McCartney is a fan. They are touring later this year with Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover, writer of “best show on TV” (the Guardian) which is called ATLANTA.

Mammút – Salt – severin: Having bought their most recent (English lyrics) CD last year, I’m delving a little further back. Initially to 2013 and their Komdu Til Min Svarta Systir (Come to me my dark sister) album. They don’t seem to record often. Only 4 albums in 11 years. I have a suspicion I shall be getting the other two quite soon. This track was also a single so you may have heard it before. Jolly good, isn’t it?

The Bellrays – Black Lightning – DsD: The set-closer from their recent gig at The Lantern in Halifax. As Lisa kept reminding us … “This is a ROCK SHOW!” It certainly was. What a shame there were only seventy people there to witness it.

North Mississippi Allstars – I’ve Been Buked (w Mavis Staples) – tincanman: From Take Me To The River, a 2014 documentary about the soul of American music. IMDB description: “The film follows the recording of a new album featuring legends from Stax records and Memphis mentoring and passing on their musical magic to stars and artists of today.” The Allstars play dirty blues and their Prayer For Peace was one of my favourite albums last year.

Pedrito Martinez – The Peanut Vendor – Ravi Raman: Heard it on Boardwalk Empire. Really loved it though I don’t have a clue as to what they are singing about. Can make a guess though!
