A stunt women was killed on the set of Deadpool 2, according to CTVNews. Update – Tuesday, August 16th, 8:45 p.m. CT: The stunt woman has been identified as Joi “SJ” Harris, according to Deadline. Harris was the first African American female professional road racer.
The incident occurred Monday morning in downtown Vancouver when the stunt woman lost control of a motorcycle and crashed into the Shaw Tower.
She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Deadpool 2, directed by David Leitch and starring Ryan Reynolds, is scheduled to hit theaters on June 1st, 2018. It remains to be seen if today’s accident will affect the film’s production.
Update – Monday, August 14th, 5:15 p.m. CT: Reynolds posted a statement to Twitter, writing, “We’re heartbroken, shocked, and devastated… but recognize nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment.”
