Dallan – Bird’s Song: Previously featured on SoS13, Dallan (Dayana Stöhr) released this track on March 17th. “A magical song about a girl, a boy and a break up. Sometimes experiences are too painful to face so it’s better to look at it from a bird’s eye view and write a fairytale instead.“

The Company Stores – So Good: “Hailing from Charleston, WV, The Company Stores combine Appalachian folk influences with a progressive, electronic sound that isn’t afraid to break boundaries and genre lines;  even delving into hip-hop and funk territory.  The band quickly made a name for themselves following their 2014 regionally acclaimed LP, Rollin’ In.  The Company Stores continued to tour, grow their fanbase, and hone in the eclectic sound that would become the groundwork for their upcoming full-length, Little Lights (April 7th).

Grok Enrol & the Nu-Thing – The Beautiful and the Ugly: Grok Enrol were previously featured in SoS7, this is a track from the forthcoming new album to be released by UK-based label Premonition Tapes – “a 4 minute slice of neo-psychedelia, fusing MBM style beats with Mellotron and some dirty bass guitar.”

Island Apollo – Hold It Down: “Island Apollo has established themselves as one of LA’s hottest bands to watch. Combining a classic surf vibe with funky urban grooves, (they) capture the spirit of a West Coast daydream come to life. With members from Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego, Island Apollo is authentically Southern Californian and isn’t afraid to show it. After being named Orange County’s “Best Pop Artist” from the OC Music Awards, Island Apollo has had songs appear on FOX Sports, CBS, PBS, TeenNick, VH1, USA Network, and has even had a song appear in a commercial with 2017 Sports Illustrated cover model Kate Upton. With the release of their new single “Hold it Down”, Island Apollo demonstrates how the band has truly created a unique sound all their own.”

Luca Chesney – Maria, Promise Me The Next Life: Luca Chesney’s new track “Maria, Promise Me The Next Life” released on Friday April 7. “This single lends comparisons musically to James Blake, vocally to the rises and falls of Bjork and the emotion-fueled intensity of Thom Yorke. It is an organic blend of electronic instrumentation, energetic, emotionally raw vocals with a touch of dark other-worldliness … Luca Chesney is a NYC-based singer, songwriter, and producer. All her songs begin in her dreams, which have a mythology of their own: an omnipresent muse named Jasper, storylines that last from weeks to months, and melodies and lyrics that she records in the morning. These visions are the basis for her new single and upcoming self-titled debut EP.”

Lucia Scansetti -Basal Flame: “Spanish alt-pop act … with a very credible profile in Spain, with sell out shows in Madrid and has supported Lucy Rose etc. but this is the first time the UK has seen her up until now. Fresh from supporting Rodriguez (of Searching For Sugarman fame) on a run of European tour dates last year, Scansetti is back with the intriguingly spooky clip for Basal Flame. Taking inspiration from the likes of Lucy RoseDaughter and Laura Marling, Lucia has a real knack for creating dark, brooding pop folk and Basal Flame finds her on top form sonically. “Basal Flame talks about being in an idealized love where you are giving yourself over to one person but in the cold light of the day your love is unrequited. The relationship you dream of is only in your head.””

Unveil the Sense – The Little Me: “Unveil The Sense began back in 2012 in Athens, Greece from Emm, Angel and George and after a year Teo and Chris joined the band. Teo, Emm and George moved to Brighton where (they) continue to write music and gig. (They) have released their new EP, “The Little Me”, part of their upcoming second album “Beachy Head”. Both the song and its music video were recorded in Brighton by the current band members. The lyrics were written by the singer Emm Tyman and the music was a combined effort of all band members, Teo Makris, George Kararizos and Emm … this song is about finding courage and strength in ourselves, having as a guide and as a source of strength the hopes and dreams we had when we were little.”

CLIFFFS – Portland to Vermont: “CLIFFFS is the new project from John Dufilho who is already firmly established on America’s music scene through his work with The Deathray Davies and The Apples in Stereo. Inspired by a love of The Ramones, Dufilho blends Modern Garage with Retro Fuzz Punk to create songs that are melodic, energetic and utterly infectious …’Portland to Vermont’, the second single to be released from CLIFFFS critically acclaimed debut long player … delivers everything a modern classic could, in less than two highly charged and intoxicating minutes.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwsBLqAtXsU

The Membranes – live at Manchester’s Ritz 29 April: Not a new song but quite an event by the sounds of it – “One of the loudest bands on the planet, if not the universe, have announced a show at Manchester’s O2 Ritz on April 29th 2017. The Membranes fronted by musician, journalist and author John Robb, will play their highly acclaimed album ‘Dark Matter/Dark Energy’ in full, as well as screening their ‘Universe Explained’ film. Support on the evening comes from Brix and the Extricated, Evil Blizzard, Dub Sex, The Nightingales, The Blinders and The Empty Page.” Here’s an idea of what to expect:
